Seen A Victory

As we are in the midst of the Easter and Passover season, I am reminded of all that has been done for me through the blood of Jesus Christ. The amazing thing is, it wasn’t just done for me, but for EVERYONE who has ever lived and will live on this earth. Recently, I listened to the song “See a Victory” by Elevation Worship, and man did those words hit home during this time! For those who have never listened to the song, I highly recommend you do.

It starts of with the lyrics, “The weapon may be formed, but it won’t prosper. When the darkness falls, it won’t prevail. ‘Cause the God I serve knows only how to triumph. My God will never fail. Oh, my God will never fail.” What a way to open a song! The enemy had a plan, to end the life of Jesus Christ; not just to end it, but to humiliate and desecrate Him in front of the whole world. As we reflect on Good Friday, the day that Jesus would be sacrificed on a cross and His blood shed, it seemed like the darkest day imaginable. A weapon was formed and darkness had fallen. The enemy rejoiced as he celebrated his victory.

Later in the song, the words in the bridge say, “You take what the enemy meant for evil. And You turn it for good. You turn it for good.” See, what the enemy did not know, was this was HIS plan! This was the plan since before the beginning of time! As Jesus breathed His last and was sealed in a tomb, everyone thought that was the end; but it was actually the beginning. It was the beginning of no longer needing to make sacrifices and burnt offerings to God on an alter. It was the beginning of having a repaired connection with the Father. It was the beginning of having the ability to have a personal, one on one relationship with Christ. Though the enemy thought he had won, that this was the end of the Messiah, he could not have been more wrong!

The chorus of the song says, “I’m gonna see a victory. I’m gonna see a victory. For the battle belongs to You, Lord.” Three days after laying in a tomb. Three days of the world thinking their Messiah had been defeated. In the darkest of times, in the bleakest moments possible, there was a victory just about to take place! It was already in the works, long before anyone realized. Then, He comes victoriously from the grave with the keys to death, hell and the grave! Once and for all, satan had been defeated!!!

The second verse says, “There’s power in the mighty name of Jesus. Every war He wages He will win. I’m not backing down from any giant. ‘Cause I know how this story ends. Yes, I know how this story ends.” The war has already been won! When Jesus arose from the grave, and had the Holy Spirit enter the world and into all who believe in Him and have accepted what He has done on the cross, not only did He take back control, but He also gave us control as well. There truly is power in the mighty name of Jesus! And as believers, we have been given that same power, in the name of Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. As believers, we need not fear this world and we need not fear the enemy because, as the Easter story reminds us, he has already been defeated!

We, as the Church and as believers in Christ, need to press into that power that we have been granted through the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus! The war is won. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father with the nail prints in His hands and feet as proof of what He has done for ALL. During this Easter season, let’s not only reflect on what Jesus has done for us, but let us also remember the power that was given us. Satan is defeated and we need not fear him, or anything that he throws at us because, in the name of Jesus, we have power over the enemy and all of his demons!

I encourage each and every one of you who read this, if you do not know Jesus, get to know Him. He is as real as your closest friend. Actually, He is more real than your closest friend and He desires to have a relationship with you, or He would not have died for YOU. If you already have a relationship with Him, dig deeper! Seek His face daily. Don’t just give Him your list of requests, but listen to see what it is that He desires from you. He desires a deep, intimate relationship with each of us and that cannot be accomplished without us doing our part.

Have a blessed Easter weekend and remember, HE IS RISEN and the enemy has been defeated!!! We have already seen a victory!
